Congratulation! Dr. Takako Konoike, an assistant professor in Professor Osada group of Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), The University of Tokyo, Kashiwa Chiba Japan, has got the 8th "Young Scientist Award of the Physical Society of Japan" for "Her pioneered work on thermal properties of Dirac electron systems". Using the layered organic crystals in which each constituing layer behave as a Dirac electron system, she has succeeded to measure the specific heat measurement of a single layer graphene. Furthermore, she observed a giant Nernst effect in the organic Dirac electronic system reflecting small energy separation between the Landau levels. The award celemony and award talk will be given in 2014 March meeting of Japan Physical Society Meeting on March 27-30th, 2014 in Tokai University, Kanagawa, Japan. Professor Osada is a group leader of SALS solid state property group (A02).
