Our paper "Fermi energy-dependence of electromagnetic wave absorption in graphene"
has been selected to be spotlight paper by APEX Journal.
In this paper we investigate the ability for graphene to absorb electromagnetic (EM) wave theoretically.
Provided that we have total internal reflection (TIR) geometry and low frequency (microwave),
we can have very high absorption by graphene, which is placed between two dielectric media.
This absorption can also be tuned by changing Fermi energy. High absorption will disappear
by changing Fermi energy to 0 eV.

This tunability can be used for designing a EM wave switch controlled by gate voltage shown in Figure (a).
In Figure (b) we give the example of absorption spectra for ε1=11.67 (silicon) and ε2=1 (vacuum) and
frequency of 24.2 GHz. The switching occurs at angle of 62 degree.
Because of the simplicity of the device structure and its analytical formulation, we expect
the experimental verification will be possible in the near future.
